What to Expect for Auditions:

Cold readings from the script will be done at auditions.
- Prepare a music selection no longer than 2 minutes.
- An accompanist will be on site, or you may bring a track (we will
play it on a speaker for you).
- If you have tap shoes, please bring them!

Main Roles:

Shrek – A big, green, grumpy but lovable ogre who embarks on a journey to save Princess Fiona. Strong comedic and vocal abilities (baritone/tenor).

Princess Fiona – A spirited, independent princess with a secret. Sings from young Fiona to adult Fiona. Requires strong comedic timing and vocal range (soprano with a mix/belt).

Donkey – Shrek’s talkative, loyal, and hilarious best friend. Requires great comedic timing and a strong singing voice (tenor/baritone).

Lord Farquaad – The comically villainous ruler of Duloc, determined to marry Fiona. Typically played on knees to exaggerate his short stature. Strong comedic and singing skills (baritone).

Dragon – A fierce but love-struck dragon guarding Fiona’s tower. Big, soulful voice (alto with strong belt).
Supporting Roles

Pinocchio – The wooden puppet who wants to be a real boy. High-pitched, comedic voice (tenor).

Gingy (Gingerbread Man) – A sassy, fast-talking cookie. Often performed with a puppet. Strong character voice (soprano/alto).

Young Fiona / Teen Fiona – Younger versions of Fiona who sing in “I Know It’s Today” (soprano).

The Three Little Pigs – German-accented fairy tale creatures. Strong ensemble singers (tenor/baritone/alto).

Big Bad Wolf – A fairy tale creature with a love for dressing up. Comedic role (baritone).

Mama Ogre & Papa Ogre – Shrek’s loving but realistic parents. Appear in the opening number (alto/baritone).

King Harold & Queen Lillian – Fiona’s parents. Featured ensemble roles (baritone/soprano).

Ensemble & Featured Roles:

Fairy Tale Creatures (Peter Pan, Ugly Duckling, Wicked Witch, etc.) – Various storybook characters with distinct personalities.
Duloc Performers – Over-the-top citizens of Lord Farquaad’s kingdom.

Knights & Guards – Lord Farquaad’s soldiers.

Bishop – Conducts Farquaad and Fiona’s wedding ceremony.
